Freedom Forum has launched a series of lesson plans on our First Amendment Academy education hub. We sincerely appreciate the years of engagement from NewseumED educators and hope that these lesson plans serve those of you who teach the First Amendment, civics and U.S. history. Topics include:

  • The five freedoms in action
  • Freedom of assembly
  • A free press
  • Media literacy and the First Amendment
  • Religious freedom
  • And more

This first set of plans is geared toward high school students. We will add middle school and elementary school versions in 2027. We encourage you to explore the entire First Amendment Academy education site, which hosts resources beyond these lesson plans including:

Thank you for all you do to educate and inspire students of all ages to value the freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition that are enshrined in the First Amendment.
