In August 2016, the Student and Youth Travel Association is gathering in Orlando, Fla., for its annual conference and to mark a milestone: 20 years of helping connect young people to the life-changing possibilities of travel. Over the past two decades – through superstorms and supersized celebrations, financial anxieties and technological advances – SYTA’s strengths have enabled it to expand its organization and amplify the power of travel to change young people’s lives for good. The Newseum partnered with SYTA to produce "SYTA at 20: Looking Back/Moving Forward," an expansive exploration of the organization's history laid out alongside major events from each year of the past two decades. While the organization's annual conference lasts only a few days, SYTA's history lives on, and the text and select images from the display are available here.
