The 'State Journal' Suppressed, 1861
Union troops in St. Louis tried to stop publication of the Daily Missouri State Journal, which was advocating for Missouri to secede, by entering the newspaper office and hauling away equipment. The newspaper struck back with headlines advertising "The War News (As Permitted by the Lincoln Dynasty)."
