False Reports of Union Victory at Bull Run, 1861
This issue of The Philadelphia Inquirer falsely reports that the Union forces won the First Battle of Bull Run, or Manassas. The newspaper failed to account for the decisive Confederate counterattack that began around the time the paper went to press.
