Northern Paper Proclaims Lincoln's Win, 1860
The 1860 Census counted 80 percent of U.S. newspapers as "political in their character," slanted toward particular causes and candidates. Pennsylvania's Chester County Times was among them. This "extra" celebrates Abraham Lincoln's election to the White House. Newspapers published "extra" editions as updated news bulletins arrived.
